A building with a past

for contemporary living

The apartment building on Okániková is typical of 1940s functionalist housing. This reconstruction restores the building's former beauty and historical charm, combined with modern technologies and 21st century user expectations.

FUNCTIONALIST DESIGN AS A
LIFESTYLE

Functionalism is an architectural style and theory of modern architecture that was guided by the “form follows function” methodology. This minimalist, clear-cut architecture was created as a reaction to the decorative eclectic styles of the late 19th century.

The apartment building on Okánikova is a typical representative of functionalist style. Since opening in 1936 it was the Bratislava head office of the “Hlavaj, Palkovič, Uličný” company. Workshops were in the basement. On the ground floor was an office with easy access through the back door and a staircase to the yard, garages and workshops.

FUNCTIONALISM TRANSFERRED TO THE
21ST
CENTURY

The apartment building is undergoing a complete and sensitive modernization, which will retain its original character. Current residential standards and requirements are also being met. The reconstruction makes the building aesthetically appealing and use quality materials. And the meticulous modernisation will deliver outstanding comfort and convenience.
